I spent what I hope has been the first half of my life "telling". First, I told myself how my life was going to play out, college, graduate school, doctorate, post... Then I told my employees how the day was going to proceed: veterinarian at 9 AM, farrier at 1 PM, etc... I told my dog how to move the stock, "Come by, away to me, go back...". And I told my horse how things were, as well: race horse, endurance horse, team penner, trail companion, pony-horse. On Christmas Eve, at a church service in Boston I heard a sermon that particularly moved me. And today, as I stood in the barn, leaning on the rail and watched a particularly "loud" horse request, then demand, to be heard as it was "told" through his paces, I realized I want to spend time that is available to me, asking the Question. And Listening for an answer. So, perhaps instead of the being the whisperer, maybe listen for the whisper; even if it said to be inaudible, it is far from indecipherable.
